Anon. asked:

okay, i’m sick of losing. we played at another tournament today at our school [junior varsity]. i’ve begged my parents for tennis lessons or drills, but they deny. i play well when practicing, or without pressure alone, but in real situations i get so shaky and nervous. what do i do? and i usually have the best backhand..but its ben stinking lately. [2hander, i'm right handed]. what do i do? what are some great ways of getting lots of easy points in doubles, where you play other guys who only hit as hard as they can, or ‘dink it softly.’ what do i do? please help. my partner and i are fine on everything else, but confidence, serve, backhand volleys, overheads, and backhands. any advice? please help. our next match is in 5 days from today. it’d be nice.
thank you all.

i usually play well if i am aggressive-er, or meaner, but sometimes i feel strange when being like that. is it okay to be aggressive and meaer to get control over matches?
i meant to say ‘meaner’ earlier, and the nervousness cracks down everything from m y self-esteem, to footwork even. pleease help? :(

RS asked:

Is it true that when u join the USTA u have to pay a fee to join a junior tournaments, how much is it? How long do the tournaments last for and do u have the pay for the coaches involved? what other fees will they ask u foe aside from the tournaments? Would u suggest joining the usta rather than taking tennis lessons? because i’m always having trouble finding someone to pratice that is good as me but won’t. cause people say its about 30 for a tournaments a and thats what u pay for the season or every single week?

I’ve been playing violin for 4 years and tennis for 5…i know being good at a sport is good for scholarships, and so is music. I love violin but i don’t want to major in music, i love tennis but it’s kind of just hitting a ball with a racket…which should i really focus on?

Lindsay asked:

I’m considering trying out for tennis in the spring as a freshman. However, I’m not sure how to prepare.
The thing is, I don’t know very much about tennis. My dad has a friend who can give me lessons, but until then, what sorts of skills could help in tennis (mile time, push ups, etc.), and where can I learn more about tennis?

Thanks in advance!

helllooooo life! asked:

So, I took a beginners tennis lesson, dec-feb. I’m now taking an intermidiate class and I absolutely **** at it. Everyone else is so much better, they always get it over the net, but not me, I always get it elsewhere, I hardly get the ball. And I can’t do the footing. I feel so bad, and embarrased.

*The lesson course, started yesterday, and is every week.
And, I **** with the footing it’s so complicated and I can’t see to do it right. I’m always last, and the worst player. It *****.

I need some websites, videos, anything, that can help me with my swings, and footing. Or tips and other stuff than can help me improve.

Thanks! :D

Is this a good deal for a table tennis lesson?

Monday 8 February 2010 @ 1:29 am

Dylan asked:

Basically,

It’s £15 an hour.
One to one with the tutor.
Includes multi-ball, basic skills and competition play.
The tutor is an ex hong kong junior champion.

Is that worth it, should i go along?
If so, how often should i do it? (once a week, once every 3 weeks, once a month)
Yihan – I am not taking the lessons yet because they are expensive, for me. That’s why i am asking.

Also, you missed a bit in physics and also, you missed the table tennis at lunch, you are on the team for the tournament on the 29th, our form tutor has the e-mail and will give us on monday.
