I speak French fluently and I am the first person in my family to go to college. I have a weighted GPA of 4.12 academic GPA 3.7 . By the end of my senior I would have taken 13 exams passing 7 exams. I was the president of the French club and this year I am the president of the European Club. I played in the advanced Jazz band my junior year only because it was difficult( I played the piano). I took two other foreign languages at school. spanish 1-2,3-4,AP Language, this year AP Span lit.(only non-native in class), also took german 7-8 got a B both semesters(studied a lot over the summer). Language and music are my hobbies. I took private tennis lessons. I have a lot SAT of 1580 and ACT composite 23. I did 50 hours community service. Volunteered 150 hours as teacher’s aide and outside work. I also went to Long Beach City college in the summer of my sophmore year to take Intermediate Algebra and Spanish 3. As a result I am in AP Span Lit and AP Calc this year. So will I be accepted ?

I’m a high school junior. I play varsity tennis (1 Doubles) and am captain. How much do you think I should charge for private tennis lessons? I’m not USTA certified but have been playing for ten years and am really good with kids.

Well im 14 and ive always wanted to play tennis ever since I saw Serena play when i was about 10, but i havent been able to take lessons because they were too early for my mom.
I watch tennis just about everyday and i have read up on it on the internet and in books. And luckily im going to a 2 week tennis camp next summer. But i started thinking about it…I either want to play in college or turn pro. And is there really enough time for me to develope?
Ive played just about every other major sport..(basketball..football..soccer…volleyball…) so im pretty good with the footwork and stuff like that. And im pretty tall for my age…6’0-6’1…and id say im pretty aggressive/strong
lol But for real, is it to late?

Fear of Victory is very dominant in women tennis. I can’t help but see how players throw away matches so easy & their game is flat when they have to face famous players. Kim for example; she would win a gramme in the fear of victory factor, especially against Sharapova. She plays super tennis, but not when she plays Sharapova(i’ve noticed). She becomes frozen stiff.
Also so many women tennis players seem to have taken a 2 hours tennis lesson before playing in professional tennis. They could hardly know how to serve or hit the ball back & what is shocking, they are in the top 50. I wonder how do the ones play who are over the top 50, if they do know at all what is the game of tennis is about. Is it buy the raquet, hold it in your hand, bounce the ball once or twice & you qualify to be called a professional women tennis player ? Some even are so out of shape & could hardly move, not to mention run after the ball.
I just wonder if someone beside me has noticed !!!
Let me add. I also play tennis for fun so i know what i’m talking about so please no smart answers like i don’t know how fast is the ball or how different it looks on tv. I play tennis for 11 years as my favourite sport.

okay,i was watching a programme on the tennis channel with the australian hostess, and she did a fantasy lesson/match with cliff drysdale at his camp or whatever. he was assessing when she served and told her that she served with a forehand grip rather than a backhand grip, the latter being how the pro’s did. what is the difference, really and how effective is a backhand grip, ultimately? i serve with a forehand grip and never have a consistent serve….would changing to a backhand grip help?

We’re both in high school, and I’ve just recently gotten into tennis. I want her to try out for the school team, but I’m not sure she wants to. I don’t think she’s very confident in her abilities (but she’s a natural athlete, so I’m sure she’ll get good soon), and she doesn’t enjoy the drills we do turning lessons. She likes playing actual games, though.

How can I convince her to try out with me? What are some of the perks of being on the tennis team? Why is it so fun?
