I have always had an interest in tennis. I am in 9th grade now, a freshman. I tried out for the tennis team, but I didn’t get in. I decided I would take tennis because I love sports and to get on the team. I wanted to go to tennis, and had to kept reminding my parents again and again until I finally got lessons. The difference is that I wasn’t forced like other kids to take the sport. I am already athletic, and my coach says I get the feel of the ball. I am 14, but I am catching on fast. I want to become professional and am willing to do what it takes. The problem is I am taking lessons once a week. Money is an issue because it is $45 a lesson. I really love tennis and my teacher was shocked that I was getting it so fast. i have never played any tournaments or anything. I played from late november of 2010 until now. He also wants me to take it twice a week, but there’s that money issue. I love tennis and want to prove to the world that I can become professional. Maybe I ca catch up. Or is it really that late. John McEnroe started at age 10 and ranked #1 in the world at one point. What do you think, can I do it?

The last time I played tennis, I got destroyed 8-1. I can’t get lessons and I have a partner but they aren’t that good. What kind of things can I do to get better? I want to win really badly because everyone was laughing at me when I lost.
Because, i’m not really sure, cause I saw some students and teachers to where i’m going (tennis dome) only wear those pants that are like plastic-ish and black. So is it ok for me to wear sweat pants? (I’m going for a lesson)
I know a guy that took some lessons/school and now he is tennis coach and tennis judge he actually can judge on professional tournaments. This guy’s age is 35-45(in that range).I’m 17 years old and I would like to do the same thing or at least get into coaching tennis school to get a coaching license. Now WHERE and HOW can I do it?

I am planning to play tennis. I am going to take lessons and play for the school should i practice running before i start?
I am a 13 year old boy, and just started getting into tennis. I really love it and am starting to get pretty good. I’ve never had lessons but will start them soon. It seems that I have natural talent though because I can beat more experienced and older players. Do you think if I started a rigorous training regimen now that I have a chance to ‘go pro’? And do you have any tips for my journey ( that would help me to turn pro)? Please answer and thanks in advance!!
I am doing my student teaching this spring and I am trying to find a school where I can coach tennis and do my student teaching. I have not been able to find a job coaching though. I just want to be an assistant or j.v coach. In california where I live the job openings are on a website named edjoin.org. I have applied for some but nobody is contacting me or giving me interviews. When I cal or email to check the status of my application they never contact me back. I only had one interview at a school for a head j.v job but I did not get it. The coach told me he wanted somebody with more high school coaching experience.
Here is my playing background
I played #1 for my high school and was an all conference athlete. I then played 2 years at a community college where I was team captain, team MVP and an all conference athlete both years. I then transferred to an NAIA school that was top 20 in the country both years I played and I was an all conference athlete both years.
Here is my coaching background
For two years I was an assistant girls varsity coach for a high school in southern california where the team made it to the finals of CIF one year. I was an assistant for for a girls team in Kansas for two years as well. I was a graduate assistant coach for two years for a men’s/women’s team at a university while I completed my masters degree. I also have worked several Nike tennis camps and camps that universities hold during the summers and winters. I ran the city tennis classes for a city for a year and a half. I also work part time as a tennis instructor at a prive club and I am currently the director for a non-profit tennis organization that gives lesson to underprivileged youth.
My question is what do I need to do to make myself attractable to a high school coach. I have applied for about 10 jv/assistant jobs but I have only got one interview and the coach told me I did not have enough experience. I got certified by CIF the other day as a coach so I hope that will help. I also just got my CPR and First Aid certification. Does anybody have advice for me. For every application I do I turn in a resume, cover letter, and 3 letters of recommendation. I have a coaching portfolio but I do not know if that is appropriate when applying for an assistant or j.v. job. I would really appreciate the help. Thanks!

I’ve never played before, and I was wondering what do you need to know before you hit the tennis courts? what are some good tennis camps, clothing, any unwritten rules about clothes or game?
Thank you.
