In New England it's $80+ per hour private at a good club. Privates are important though -- no substitute for learning how to turn, swing and hit properly. Worth the money whatever it is. Then just practice hitting with a machine, friend. Town rec programs are affordable ways to get in more hitting time.

Here's a link re joining USTA which is great once you are ready to compete.. Good luck.

Get a private lesson about $40 to $60 or buy those tennis machine in ebay for $200. Don't join those clinic co'z your going to end up playing with player who's just starting like you. Your not going to learn if you playing crappy player. Go to a park with tennis court you'll find different type of tennis players over there. Ask them if you can play with them. Remember it's summer time everybody is playing outdoor. Try also to practice in those wall in the park and buy a bucket of tennis balls and practice for your serving. Its easy to do a forehand and backhand but if you can't serve its useless. Hope this will help. Good Luck!

They cost from $95-100. Some are expensive, some are not. It depends how long you go for. Go to your club and find out the exact price. =O)

Welcome to the world of tennis!
Private lessons go for about $40 for a private
but it is much more economical if you take a clinic which should run you about $15. With a clinic, you will be able to play and learn with others.

In a club setting, you just need to schedule the court time with another player for singles and 3 other ppl for doubles. I'd set up matches on a public court and that way, it wont cost you anything....just go there and try to pick up a game.

Watch other players before you ask them to play with you just to make sure your abilities are evenly matched. You may feel totally demoralized if you play someone who is way-y better than you and you will get frustrated if you play someone way-yy "badder" than you...The only way you get better is play, play, play!
Hope this helps....

private lessons cost about $30, but if you do a group lesson it will cost much much less and this has the added benefit of meeting people that are also interested in tennis. I suggest doing a camp in your area for about a week and you should be able to find a good tennis partner. You can just ask people around the club of course. You can also participate in tennis tournaments, another good way to meet people. You can sign up at a local club.
