How to become a better tennis player?

tennis lessons
you should know asked:

I am in 8th grade and I want to be on my high school’s team. I am taking private lessons about every other weekend. I am a long distance runner, but I don’t like sprints. What can I do to make sprinting on the court easier? Also, what are some good drills I can do by myself (like without my parents help or help from my coach) to improve my playing?

you dont need to sprint to be a good tennis player. if you take private tennis lessons you will be on the high school team forsure. you just have to set your mind to it. To get better practice your serve everyday, and play matches. From time to time ask someone to play you 1 on 1 even if they are not better then you, this will make you gain more confidence in your shots. If you really want to sprint and know how to do it, do suicides this will make you quicker, and also do calf raises.

Lunges! You have to be able to stay low.
Don’t just do privates, the best thing is to hit with other players.

It is simple – practice with friends or even against wall!

as a beginner myself I can tell you that it is very important to focus on the basics first – learn how to make each stroke the right way. another important thing is the mental side of the game – that is what separate the great ones like federer from the rest.
