If you want to get recognized in tennis, you need attitude. Say your opponent serves, and you miss. That makes you loser. Unless…you throw your racket at your opponent, and jump over the net to chase after them. Then you’re crazy…but you’re not a loser.
Crazy people get the pay check, my young friend. Losers do not.
if you think you need more lessons then go for it! do anything you can to reach your goal. and when tryouts come tryout and if you don’t make it then try again next year and keep taking lessons then you will know you have gotten a year better and you will be more confident.
Practice makes perfect my dear so don’t give up because talent doesn’t come easy just keep your eye on the ball and fonish your swing and always make sure to do appropiate footwork and keep your head high for this is a mental game.
Just listing stuff on what is most likely required to be on a team,…high school team….
You need to know how to play tennis. To know at least the basics, not all the special techniques, but like forehand, backhand, overhead smash, serve (two ways to do it), etc. You should know how to do it and when do it. Also, you can’t just have the knowledge of tennis, you could study and read about all you want, but you need to know how to play it. Are you able to run for the balls, able to hit them back? You need to practice, practice, practice.
And for you, since you are a beginner, you should be practicing. Especially if you want to get on a team. And yes, preferably, get a proffessional to help you, or some lessons from an experienced player. You could watch tennis matches and read about it to know about the moves and tatics, etc.
It’s not guaranteed that you will make the team, but it’s still a chance that you would get in. The time, now and before the tryouts, just keep practicing…
