Lessons are a good idea if you aren't sure on your skills, but once you have your serve, forehand, backhand, and volleys down, i think the best way to get better is too play matches. I suggest entering into weekend tournaments. It helps knowing where to place it to get the winning shots. Hope this helps!

Well, My cousin, Quin, started playing tennis last year and he's about 15. He played for a year or two when he was around 7, but then quit. I played him and found out he was terrible. He signed up for some lessons at our town's indoor courts where they have one teacher per group of 10 kids. He was placed in a younger group, but didn't keep that going long. Then he played for the high school team, and the next time I played him I won 6-4 instead of 6-0. So, I'd say doing high school tennis and maybe some lessons would be smart.

you could hit 10,000 balls a week but if u dont have a good technique, ur wasting ur time. so getting lessons early on is a must.

lol take it..tennis is a great thing to take.get private and class with other because you can show off to them :P...but w/e... i started in a adult class and ****** but taken private lesson and BAM ranked #1 in my class ( only 5 people XD)...only because there old (30-50 and i think like 2 20s).and the lessons in winter thingy..you will have either to miss your group class "somtimes" but not your private lessons. you should pick your tennis coach at school class because he wants you to win more then your normal clinic club coach.

i'm also trying to head to my team. right now go for it...trust me it will change your life. people know me said that i am more quiet when i started playing...cause i was discipline... also i got in shape..if your already re-training then your clinic coach and other classmate you grtz you then giving you super confidence to get you to clear them webs and get you on the tennis team

get to your mom and start the tennis group first because then you will know, also your clinic coach,.will know to work on.

Lessons will help you turn professional and the top of your class, but I don't want you to think that you need them to get up there. Take lessons when you feel like you're doing something wrong or you want to learn something new, but remember that practicing gives more benefits. Practice will make you master what you already know. Plus less expensive :P.

With friends, you can just rally constantly with them, and by yourself, you can buy a basket full of tennis balls and just keep serving with them in an empty court ( I have a daily routine of emptying my basket of 48 balls 6 times) .

But you said you don't even know how to serve? Then you will need lessons for those. As for your swings, if you already know your stroke then just rally with a friend. Schedule ONLY PRIVATE lessons because you will learn more and your coach will focus on your playing. Schedule them every 2 weeks (or 1 week if you need it) so it won't collide with your practicing.
